How to DIY new candles from leftover candles?

1. Gather the wax. Find some unusable candle ends to make candles from. You can also use wax that falls off of other things, but try to use the same kind of wax (for example, don't mix paraffin and citronella).

If it is a scented candle, be sure to choose the same scent, you definitely don't want the candle to burn with a pungent mixed perfume smell.

Also avoid using several waxes with very contrasting colors, otherwise the result will be a muddy brownish gray. The color of the wax should be the same or be the same type.

2. Melt the wax. Finely chop the wax with a butter knife and melt in a bain-marie. Wait until the temperature of the wax reaches 85°C, then remove it from the heat source.

3. Prepare the container. Put the wax with a metal base on the bottom of the container, then roll up the other end with a pencil or pen and place it on the mouth of the jar. Heat the jar in the microwave to 65.5°C to reduce air bubbles in the candle.

4. Pour the wax. Use gauze to filter out the old wick or it will get into the new candle. Slowly pour the wax into the container. Avoid pouring directly onto the wick or rim, but ensure a steady, consistent pour. Leave 1/4 to pour later.

5. Wait, keep pouring. When the wax has cooled completely, heat the remaining 1/4 and start pouring. After the candle solidifies, it is easy to produce a depression in the center, and it can be filled by pouring it over now.

6. End. Take the pencil away and cut the wick to the proper length. Once the candle is completely set, you are good to go! Have fun with your new candle, or give it away.
