Rolling beeswax foundation, or wax sheets stamped with the base of a cell, is a simple, safe, and inexpensive way to make lovely
Rolled Beeswax Candles without the need for hot melted wax.
You Will Need • 1 beeswax sheet, also called foundation, 8 inch x 16 inch (20.5 centimeters x 40.5 centimeters)
• 2/0 wick
• scissors
• hair dryer (optional)
Directions 1. Fold the beeswax sheet in half with the short ends together. Bend the sheet back and forth until it breaks. Each piece will make one honeycomb
Beeswax Candle.
2. Lay the wick on the torn edge of the wax. Cut the sheet a little longer than the end of the sheet.
3. Use your fingertips to crimp and press the wax around the wick.
4. Tightly roll the wax using both hands to exert even pressure. If the beeswax sheet is cold, blow hot air over the wax for a few seconds with a hair dryer before rolling.
5. Use the warmth of your fingertips to gently press the wax seam closed.
6. Burn these hand rolled
Beeswax Candles or bundle them together with colorful ribbon to give as a beautiful gift.
Take it Further • Cut the beeswax in a variety of lengths and sizes to create candles of different shapes and diameters.
• A pizza slicer makes a great beeswax-cutting tool.
• Decorate the outside of a rolled beeswax candle by cutting colored wax sheets into shapes and strips. Press onto the surface of the candle with your fingertips.
• Try rolling two different colored triangular sheets together and slightly offset. When rolling, make sure there is one end side to fit in a candleholder.
• Cut the wax sheets into fourths for smaller hands to roll the beeswax sheet candles with ease.
